Skin Care Regimen & Tips for Each Decade

Every good skin care regimen should look like this:

Step 1: Cleanse
Find a cleanser that works with your skin type and wash your face twice a day, in the morning and evening.

Step 2: Exfoliate
Slough off dead skin cells at least once a week to pave the way for better absorption.

Step 3: Treat
Whether you are concerned with acne, wrinkles, dullness, hyper pigmentation, or all of the above, treat your skin with products that contain specific ingredients to solve every problem.

Step 4: Hydrate
Soothe and soften skin immediately after showering for maximum hydration.

Step 5: Protect with Sun Care
No matter what your skin type or concern, protect your skin from future sun and environmental damage with an antioxidant-packed moisturizer and serious SPF.

Skin-care tips for each decade:

  • Eye cream is key in your twenties. Purchase one that is rich in texture and extend it out to the temple are, where fine lines are the first to form.
  • Cell turnover begins to slow and dead skin cells are not as easily shed, which can lead to a dull, lifeless complexion. Exfoliating products will help slough off the dead cells and reveal the fresh, healthy skin underneath.
  • Eat foods rich in antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and amino acids to increase the hydration of your skin.

  • Your skin is just beginning to show signs of wrinkles and irregular pigmentation at this age. It’s important to use products with antioxidants topically and internally to help minimize future damage.
  • Invest in a serum and use it prior to your night cream.
  • Start using products with milder anti-inflammatories like DMAE and phytonutrients such as green tea and olive oil.

  • In your forties and fifties, you are hitting perimenopause and menopause, where hormonal changes in the body begin to show up on the skin. The skin starts to thin, become dull and dry, and fine lines appear, while excess facial hair and breakouts occur. We call this hormonal aging. Look for ingredients such as soy, wild yam, clover and chaparral extract. Use peptides to encourage the minimizing of the fine lines and wrinkles.
  • This is the time to get more aggressive with the more powerful antioxidants, such as alpha lipoic acid, vitamin C ester, and tocotrienols, and neuropeptides.

Double Agent Tip
Eye cream can also be used on the skin around the lips to prevent fine lines.
